elsie catherine arrived 25/06/06 weighing 6 pound 10 after a wonderful 5 hour epidural labour!

i woke up at 5.15 am feeling different. Went to the loo to find i had had massive show and almost immediately satrted to feel contractions. Got a little distressed as was very nervous about giving birth again, as my last had been all natural and very painful! my DH talked me into going to the hospital further away from us so i could have an epidural. By 10.45 i was 4 cm dilated and still at home, contractions coming evey 5 mins so midwife sent me into hospital. By 2pm i was having to use a tens and the contractions were really quite painful, luckily my anethetist arrived and by 3pm i had a fantastic mobile epidural. He got it just right, i could still feel the pressure with the contractions but no pain so by 6pm i was 10 cm dilated and by 6.30 given the go ahead to start to push, i was given a mirror so i could watch the whole thing, elsie was in a hurry and came out in only four pushes, but had absolutely no tears or anything, and IT DOESNT EVEN HURT WHEN I WEE!!! amazing. i was home the following lunchtime and elsie is doing fab.

sparklemagic · 28/06/2006 18:26

wow, what a fantastic birth story, well done to you! Love Elsie's name by the way, it's one you hardly ever hear and it's so pretty. I thought I was the only one to like this name for a girl! We didn't get to use it though as had a DS!

thanks everyone, would definately recommend an epidural as i have done it both ways, without and with and if you dont have to go through the pain then dont! elsie is named after my granny, i think its really cute just like her
