It's taken me a while to post but thought I'd better announce the arrival of Amy, who was born 13 days overdue at 4:15pm on Saturday, June 10th.

Although my waters broke spontaneously at 05:00 on Friday morning - nothing much else happened - besides which I was already booked in to be induced on the Saturday. Went to hospital on Saturday morning - examined at 08:30 and 2-3cm dilated. Got hooked up to a drip at 10:30 - by 12:30 was having 4 contractions every 10 minutes but couldn't feel them at all - no pain - so just read the paper, watched TV and chatted to midwife and DH. Started to feel the contractions about 2:00pm - got very painful at 2:30 pm at which point I was having to breathe through them. TENS ceased to be helpful at 3pm when I went onto gas & air. Also examined at 3pm and was 6cm dilated. half an hour later I was in transition - couldn't get comfortable, wanted to cry, told everyone I couldn't carry on..normal kind of stuff. Lovely midwife suggested I lie on my left side on the bed..at which point I was insistant that I wanted to do a poo. Very kind midwife responded with the words - 'that'll be your baby's head my dear' !!! Anyway - Amy was born very shortly afterwards and weighed in at 7lb 13oz !

DD1 is delighted to have a sister. We stayed in hospital for just one night and Amy's been a feeding monster ever since...and I feel like a cow!
