About seven months ago my best friend realised she was pregnant with her third baby, due 10 days ago. She has had no support throughout her life, has no family (raised in care) and no Internet access, so can't utilise Mumsnet. So I have come on here to announce the birth of her beautiful daughter Seren Rose at 6.16am this morning, weighing 8lb 6oz, in the knowledge that mothers across the globe will think of her today.
Under the threat of attending her induction this afternoon, I received a frantic phone call at 5am (through gritted teeth: "Get. Here. Now. Baby"). We arrived at the hospital twenty minutes later and on lying down on the bed, her waters promptly burst forth and drenched the open mouthed midwife (apparently amniotic fluid does not taste pleasant). Four pushes later, hand-first and with a silence which would put ol' TomKat to shame, she became a Mum for the third and final time.
I hope you don't mind me posting, but after two previous labours and early few days with small babies where she was completely alone and very scared, I thought it would be nice for her to know that today she is being thought of by people who know what she has just achieved.
