Liberty Violet Postlethwaite made her way into the world on Tuesday 10th January 2006 at 3.49am weighing 8lbs 7oz.
My contractions started at 1am, and by 1.15 they were every five minutes. We didn't have time to wait for my mum to get here, so had to wake up the next door neighbour so she could wait in the house in case DD1 woke up.
Mad dash to hospital. Arrived at 1.45 pm and contractions every 2 to 3 mins. Gas and air helped take the edge off. By 3am was 6 cm dialated. Got in birthing pool and went from 6 to 10cm in 15 mins. Waters broke and so did my stiff upper lip as I started bawling and promising large cash rewards to anyone that could get me an epidural!
Libby's heart rate was going down rapidly so they pulled me out of the pool and up onto the table and she was born about 25 minutes later.
There was nothing serene about the birth. I bellowed like a water buffalo. Screamed like a banshee and prob deafened both midwives and the doc! Two and a half hours from start to finish!
She's a really lovely, calm, non grumbly baby. We're all totally besotted with her.
