hey heres my announcement at long last!!
i found out i was supposed to be getting induced on the 8-1-06 and was over the moon! our daughter had her own agenda though and at 9:30 am on saturday 7-1-06 my waters broke all over the bed and bedroom floor!! i was very surprised as i was planning on a last minute shopping trip to the asda and obviously couldnt go!! hmph!! anywho... we rang the hospital who said to go straight in and was told that my contractions hadnt started but due to excess water (polyhydramnios) i had to stay in hospital!
me and dp decided to go for a walk to get things going which they did and i was put on an antenatal ward for the time being! i had to wait til 11pm before i was examined as there was no doctor available and the midwife refused to do it herself due to the added risk to the baby of the cord coming down before she did! eventually i was examined by another midwife who said i was 4cm and was transferred to the delivery suite. i was asked bout pain relief at this point which i decided on epidural but before the midwife had time to ring the anaesthetist i felt the need to push and after being reexamined i was told i was 7cm and it was too late for the epi as i had only taken an hour to dialate from 4 to 7!! no sooner had the midwife given me diamorphine and i was needing to push and couldnt resist it! she examined me again and i was fully dialated!! i had done that in less than an hour!! i then started to push and she was born 15 mins later!! weve named her sian zoe victoria and she weighed in at 8lb 12oz!! i needed to have alot of stitches- about 10 or so in all as her hand was next to her face as she came out but that was ok and i couldnt be happier about how the birth went!! 4-10cm in 2hrs and born in a handful of pushes!! me and dp are proud as punch and feel as if shes been here forever!!
