I hardly ever post on Mumsnet (am too shy ) but wanted to tell you that my lovely DD Rosie Audrey was born on the 1st January at 1356. She was the first baby born for 2006 at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage which surprised me as normally a baby is born one minute after midnight or something!!

My contractions started at 0530 in the morning but managed to ride them out for a while. Ended up at the hospital at about 0830 where they decided that they were going to do am emergency caesarean (I was scheduled to have a planned one today!). After a couple of hours of the contractions from hell they walked me down to the operating room and after nine failed attempts to get the spinal block in (in between more hellish contractions!)I had to have a general.

Had a couple of reporters turn up from the local newspapers to take pics and stuff. Also got a nice engraved frame from the hospital which was very nice!

Came home earlier today and now the fun begins!

Congratulations! Despite the difficulties for you (I had an emergency c/s under ga too) it's a lovely story to tell your dd. Very pretty names too.

Beautiful name.

sweetkitty · 04/01/2006 21:17

Many congratulations NT and welcome to the world baby Rosie.

(Just as an aside were you pregnant in 2004 and had a premmie baby, I seem to remember you from the July 2004 thread or am I going completely mad?)

Maddison · 04/01/2006 23:06

Congratulations and welcome to Rosie!

NorfolkTurkey · 05/01/2006 11:10

Hi sweetkitty! No you're not going mad - I was briefly on the July 2004 thread. My DD then decided to come in April 2004 at 29 weeks!

I spent this pregnancy panicking that it was going to happen again so I am over the moon that I managed to get to 38 weeks! I really didn't think that I would get this far! I even went for a visit around the hospital's SCBU to introduce myself! Sounds daft I know but As I lost my first at 24 weeks then my second at 26, had my 1st DD at 29 weeks I really though that I would end up there again!

Congratulations.

Love the name.

sweetkitty · 05/01/2006 11:39

Thats even better news NT that your second DD wasn't a premmie. Enjoy your girls as I'm sure they are extra special too.

I'm due in a week another DD too.

NorfolkTurkey · 05/01/2006 11:42

Good luck sweetkitty. I hope everything goes well for you

NT - Thats fab news!! I was thinking about you not that long ago as I had never read any posts about your 1st dd getting out of hospital! So happy to hear your 1st and 2nd DD are both fine.

NorfolkTurkey · 05/01/2006 21:05

Thanks toothache. I know I should have posted more about my other DD coming out but kept forgetting or was too shy to do so

She came out after six weeks and has now at 20 months, more than fully caught up bless her heart! I look at DD2 at five pounds 10ish and then look at DD1 and think 'Wow - you were three pounds less when you were born!'. Isn't it amazing what can be done these days.

Now next job is to figure out how to post a picture on member profiles!

NT - What a fantastic story of hope for those having premy babies. I must be hormonal or something coz I've welled up reading your post!!!

Dinosaur · 06/01/2006 10:34

Congrats NorfolkTurkey - I also remember you from the July 2004 thread! Love the name (I'm a Rosie, too )
