Weeeellll......!! Ella Grace was born on 23/11/05 at 23:02, weighing 7ilb 9oz. It was normal delivery with no stitches, I'm glad to say! After my waters went, they were stained with meconium from the outset so I knew my water birth with a physiological third stage were definately not going to happen but I didn't mind one bit. It became the most intervention-filled labour you could imagine, ha ha!

Contractions fizzled out, had prostin then syntocinon infusion was started at 5pm. Had a TENS fitted & the contractions didn't become aggressive & regular until 9pm whereupon I burst into tears & felt a bit silly! Had some meptid which I thought was crap (& I told them!) But they admitted it wasn't terribly good against the force of the synto. Together with gas & air I managed to hang on until 22:40 when I was fully. Second stage was 20 mins & she shot out in one almighty push! Cord had to be clamped straight away as it was very short so DP did the honours. Absolutely delighted at intact perineum!! I cannot tell you what a difference it makes. Put her to the breast which she liked & still does!

She had her sugar levels checked the next day & we got through ot with regular good BFs & top ups with ebm, so I was very happy. Unfortunately, as I have antibodies she developed jaundice & was treated with light therapy which is why we were in an extra day. Went back today to have her blood checked & her bilirubin levels are down so she doesn't need anymore phototherapy.

She is feeding like a dream & the milkman arrived today so she is on cloud 9! Needless to say, she is THE most beautiful baby on the planet, sorry to the other mums!! I cannot take my eyes off her or stop kissing her. This is the start of a wonderful love affair.

BTW, I pasted this from my antenatal thread from last week, in case anyone was wpndering why its taken so long for the milk to arrive!
Ella is now 6 days old & continues to feed well. She's only lost 10gms from her birth weight which shows how much loves her feeds.
