Beatrice Alice made her rather rapid entrance into the world at 9.35pm this evening weighing in at 5lb 15.5oz. I'll post the full story in the morning but we are both fine. Freedom at last!

Katherine, that's a fantastic story....and you were dead right about insisting that it would be a bad idea for you to travel in labour
I don't think you quite beat the record for posting the soonest after a birth, but you certainly have the record for posting the soonest before a birth - only 55 minutes!!!

Was your first labour very short?? (I'm getting a bit worried now....)

quackers · 22/08/2003 14:03

What a wonderful story Katherine - amazing!!!!
Jems, you sound well hormonal!!!

musica · 22/08/2003 14:11

Sounds amazing Katherine - and I'm so pleased you got your homebirth, I know how much it meant to you, and especially after all the potential reasons for not having it - midwives being away etc. Well done you! And it sounds like it's well done your dh too. (I know what you mean about the afterpains btw, I thought they were almost worse than the birth itself!).

myersthecat · 22/08/2003 14:17

Maybe all the stress of yesterday was worth it after all. Perhaps that's what I need.

So glad you got your home birth, and that all's well.

Enjoy your little bundle. I'll join you shortly!

Lots of love
Angela

That sounds a fabulous experience Katherine. I tell you this though, thank goodness you are at home or your littl'un would be getting stabbed every feed to check her blood sugars because she is small at term. She sounds as though she is doing really well. Well done
