Carmen Rosalind Esme was born at 5.36pm on Sat 10 Sept, delivered in our bathroom by ambulance crew after a scary half-hour labour. 8lb 6oz (ow ) and beautiful.

All well - I'm a bit sore but beginning to emerge from the shock ... full story to follow at some point

Great story - and so beautifully written too - you should think about writing scripts for TV !

Copy down what you've written on here into a journal for your baby to read in the future...

Congratulations x

What a brilliant story. Well done. How lovely for DD1 to be able to say that she was there.

Ragtaggle · 28/09/2005 06:23

Congratulations! What an amazing story. I'm sitting here on the morning of my due date unable to sleep and reading other people's birth stories. I am hoping for a planned home birth and - like you - have a toddler to consider too. Think I'll spend the day just checking and rechecking the movements of all those that have agreed to take her now that I've read your story. How did yours react to the birth by the way? If you get a minute to type at any point I'd love to know!

franch · 28/09/2005 11:40

RainbowWalker - thanks for what you said about the story

Miaou and Ragtaggle - that's the other fantastic thing - DD1 has been wonderful with DD2 so far. She's really affectionate, giving her kisses, stroking her hands really gently, bringing her toys and even telling me to give her a hug when she cries! It's so touching and better than I could've hoped for. I know there'll be trouble in future but it's a really good start and gives me less to worry about as I recover.

Good luck Ragtaggle

champs - let's sort out a meet-up with Mars as soon as we pull ourselves together

well not a very nice place to be born did u plan on a home birth or did she come just to quick?

franch · 30/09/2005 09:50

I had planned a homebirth, luckily - even if I hadn't there'd have been no choice! I'm not at all bothered about where DD2 was born, and extremely happy that it was at home - just not nice or easy because it was pretty scary and incredibly painful - however as I discovered, you can tolerate pretty much anything for half an hour. There's not much I'd change about it really

What a great story - so lovely to be at home isn't it? I had an unplanned quick bathroom delivery 6 months ago - wouldn't change anything about it although dh may disagree!

Congrats Franch.

Was thinking about you the other day as have not posted much on MN, MCF threads for a while and the last time I did, you were about 4 months pregnant and I was about 7 months.

I had DS2 at home too, although not such a dramatic entrance as your DD2.

Congrats again and maybe one day we will all have the London meetup we've been trying to arrange for months
