6 weeks early.......

Well I have finally done it! I was still at work last week wrapping up with 4 more days to go.... and on the Monday night dragged my DH to the hospital to do a tour so that we knew where to go in 6 weeks time.... little did I know that 8 hours later I would be there! My waters broke at 4am and so had to go to the hospital where they then told me that I would have to stay put! Help - hadn't done any shopping as was planning that for my maternity leave the following week.... DH was a star and did it all including disposable pants and pads!!!

They then told me that they were going to induce me on Thursday as the bump would have been 34 weeks exactly on that day... however, it was a very busy time at the hospital and I also had to wait for a cot in the neo natal unit as well as a bed in the delivery suite.... so I waited until Sunday for both to be free! Was induced in the morning but was given an emergency c/section in the evening as bump wasn't happy - his heart beat was dropping with every contraction..... so William Nicholas John was born at 9.33pm on Sunday night and is absolutley perfect! Luckily he didn't have to stay in the neo natal unit but visited it 3 times a day, but could stay with me instead. He's 5 lbs 1 oz which is a great size for his age and there doesn't seem to be any problems with him coming out so early. I am now home and am into a 3 hourly feeding routine already. Luckily he is an angel and sleeps all the time he isnt' eating! Am over the moon and so happy!

I am very happy for you, but what a shock to have him come so soon! And you didn't get to enjoy any time between work and birth (not that the last 6 weeks are much fun anyway - you might consider yourself quite lucky actually!)
