I started a thread about him being in icu.Anyhow, after battling away (they decreased his sedation enough for him to smile at ds and to tell us stuff,a bit, from what we could understand through lipreading as he had a trachy in) he had a big bleed yesterday and sadly nothing could be done.I managed to get him to see the children before he died and he was aw2arev as he smiled at them, and I amgladn he was able to do this.he died very peacefully 3 hours later bafter they had taken him off the ventilator, thankfully free from pain.RIP SWEEHHEART.,,A,

So very sorry for your loss, Mavis.

I lost my DH almost two years ago. I had some wonderful support on here and I know that you will too. You've already been given some good recommendations for websites/organisations. Winston's Wish were very helpful to me. My DSs were 4 and 5 and the time and they gave me some very good advice. I've gone back to the Merry Widow website time and again, too.

Don't be afraid to ask for help, either in real life or on here. Particularly don't be afraid to ask as time goes by. You'll get lots of offers and support now but it tends to dwindle off as the months go by. Ironically, for lots of people, they cope okay at first as there is so much to sort out and they're a bit numb but further down the life, when it really starts to hit home, people have drawn back and expect you to get on with it. If that happens with you, don't forget we're here and there are quite a few of us who have been through it - or are going through it - so you are absolutely not alone.

Sending much love to you and your family.

Mavis, I am so sorry and my heart goes out to you and your children.

My DP died 10 months ago, so I can imagine all too well what things must be like for you at the moment.

The support on here is amazing and there are many, many people thinking of you, so don't be hesitant to ask for help when you need it. Sometimes it's much easier to 'talk' on here than in real life. WAY and Merry Widow have also been lifelines.

Wishing you lots of strength.
