Was i pregnant?

Dh & I are trying for no 2, & in May I started feeling sick about half-way through my cycle (it lasted all day but I also had the urge to eat - different to last time when i lost my appetite & had to force myself to eat). I also felt really tired (even more than usual!) especially 2 or 3 days before my period actually started, when I could barely get through the day at work. I had a 29 day cycle (I vary, but am never more than 28) & when my period came it was much heavier & more painful than usual & lasted longer. Also, after that day when i felt really crap, i got gradually less nauseous. Was it possible i was pregnant, does anyone know? I really wish I'd done a test, but I always thought you had to wait until your period was late, & anyway, it always seems like tempting fate. Sorry if this is gibberish but i'm at work & don't want anyone to see!

I would say its going to be difficult for any of us to tell you that to be honest. I get nausea before my period and my appetite increases. I think its just a case that as we get older our periods do change. I can understand why you are trying to rationalise what could have happened but far better to put it behind you if possible and look to the future for when you do get pregnant. (sorry this is meant to sound supportive but not sure how its coming across!)

oh dear scampadoodle - you may have been, you may not have been, it just may have been a late and heavy period which made you feel terrible before and during. but does it matter? don't beat yourself up about whether you were or weren't, as there isn't anything you can do about it, you will never know, and it won't be good for you to dwell on it. I'd honestly just assume that it wasn't meant to be this month, like any other previous month, and keep trying. best of luck!

Scampadoodle, something similar happened to me - nauseau, long wait for period. It's difficult when you've started to psyche yourself up for something you're really hoping for, to get such an inconclusive and disappointing result. If it really was a very early miscarriage it was probably because the pregnancy was most definitely not viable for whatever reason (hope that doesn't sound too awful). Keep trying and best of luck.

scampadoodle, from my recent experience 'bleeding - advice?' thread, I tested on the day I was due and the test was positive. Sadly I have suffered a miscarriage at nearly 5 weeks and there is a part of me that wishes I had not tested so early as I often get pregnancy symptoms before my period starts and I would have just put it down to 'not this month'. Next time I do feel that perhaps I will wait a bit longer, even if I do suspect that I am pregnant. Good luck for future trying.

Hi scampadoodle

It's really hard when that happens - I once had a 38 day period when I was ttc (my periods had never been longer than 31 days, and haven't since) and was sure I must have been pregnant - felt very bloated, but I did do some tests and they were all negative. I then went on to have a really heavy horrible period. So I think you just can't know.. Good luck in the future if you're ttc.
