There is a register kept of stillbirths. Only parents can get a certificate of stillbirth if they are named on it. Siblings are allowed to apply for a copy of the certificate if both of their parents are dead.

How can you find a stillborn baby's grave born 1949

Nettie you would probably be better starting a new thread as this is from 2010.

I'm not sure there would be a grave for a stillborn baby in 1949, or any records though from what I have been told. I hope I'm wrong though Sad

Hello all.... I was born in 1962.....i was always led to believe that I had a stillborn twin.... Can't remember who told me as my parents never spoke of it to me and they are now deceased.... Did they give stillborns death certificates then? Would love to know if the story is true or not... :)

My mum has asked me to help her find out what happened to her baby born in 1957. She said she remembers giving birth and the mid wife saying it's all head and the baby being taken away mum never saw the baby. Can anyone help point me in the right direction. We have been in touch with the hospital but they said all the records have been distroyed thanks.

Bubblerock I had a stillbirth in 1976. I think I know the month; May or June and I know where. Because I was very ill during and following this my memories are extremely vague. I know it was a girl. My then husband registered the death but I have not seen him for 30 years and he is possibly dead. Where do I start. This has tormented me for many years and I strongly suspect that the baby was buried in a communal grave, but I was never told. I am now retired and at last have the time to pursue this so any help or tips would be gratefully received.
