Some clarification please

My friend is 8 weeks pregnant. Last night had a little spotting so called NHS helpline who booked her in for a scan today. From doing the scan the midwife says theres no heartbeat and the baby is small for 8 weeks. She asked my friend if her dates were correct coz sometimes at just 6 weeks it could be hard to find a heartbeat (my friend thinks so but not quite sure). The midwife has asked them to come back in a week for another scan for confirmation.

Does this sound right to anyone? Is there a small chance that the baby is alive? Maybe someone in the profession can shed a bit of light.

yes, saw a post recently very similar(wont name as dont want to upset) and she was just earlier than she thought and baby was fine..hope your friend and her babe is too

i had a scan at what should have been my 7th week but there was no heartbeat. Went back 10 days later and there was a heartbeat and baby only measured 6+2, there is always hope!! Am now 10 weeks pregnant!

i had a 6 week scan and was told that they might not find a heartbeat (although in fact there was one!)
