My Dad's just died and I feel lost. He had health problems but we didn't expect him to die. He was in his 60s. I feel lost and like a child again. I've had friends and family members die before but never had to organise a funeral or sort through their stuff or deal with solicitors and wills etc.
I just feel absolutely awful. My sleep has been crap since it happened and I wake up feeling panicked. I dont know why I'm posting really, I guess if anyone has any tips for this process that would be helpful. I dont know when to go back to work either. Thank you.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost a parent in their 60s and it was a big shock so just be kind to yourself. There were some helpful guides online regarding what order to do things in in terms of the practical stuff regarding funeral arrangements, probate etc which helped in the first few weeks.

The funeral directors were amazing and made the process far more straightforward. I think you run on adrenaline as there's so much to organise but if anyone offers to help, let them.

I am so sorry for your loss. My husband lost his dad when he (his dad) was in his early 60s. It was a complete shock and it is very hard.

Take time to grieve and make sure you get bereavement counselling (I believe this is recommended after six months.)

My husband said that what helped him the most was accepting what had happened and becoming able to believe that this happened for the best, knowing that his father avoided a painful illness and long decline.

Please look after yourself.
