Supporting DH during grief

Mathair2 · Today 09:27

My DH recently lost his best friend. Both of us are really struggling with the loss but in particular my husband. He is self employed so struggling to get up for work, staying in bed lots, very quiet to chat to. I'm so worried about him but am at a loss as to what to do. It's only been a few weeks since our friend passed away.

Sorry for your loss.

This is all a normal part of grieving process.

Read about 'The 7 Stages of Grief'.

Just be with him - sit and be quiet together or sit and talk - let him decide.

It might be good to talk about your friend to 'open' the discussion as a first instance. Think of ways to commemorate your friend.

Thanks for the reply @SaraHoliday I will have a read of that.

We are actually good for talking about him but outside of sharing stories I dont really know how else to support him. DH was doing really well in the beginning , was really good at talking about how he was feeling, etc but as time passes he is withdrawing into himself more and more and his mood is very low.
