Probate solicitor recommendations

Could anyone please recommend a solicitor to help with probate. I don’t think we have the time or expertise to do it ourselves- the estate is small and under inheritance tax.

Honestly - if it’s small and under IHT I’d do it myself. You’d need to provide the solicitor with all the info needed anyway, which is the tedious bit. I’ve completed, and also helped to complete probate applications 3 times. Once was a relative where the estate was close to IHT levels. We just carefully went through the forms to ensure no IHT would be due, filled in the probate application and that was it. Took about a month to confirm no IHT due, and a further month to receive certificate of probate.

I completed my LH probate myself with the help of ChatGPT for making the wording in simple English as, although the form was not hugely complicated I wanted to be sure that I understood and was giving accurate information.
If you do make an error in the online form they do email you and it is possible to speak to a human to clarify it.
Took about 6wks to receive the Letters of Administration

I have done it twice , is soooo easy. If solicitor does it , you are the one that provides the info anyway. They fill the online form and charge for the pleasure

I did my DH's, I would certainly suggest you have a go. There's a form to help with the IHT calculation, but it looks like you've already sorted that - and that was the hardest part for me! Take it slowly as you go through, make a note of your responses and re-read it a couple of times before you send it off. Honestly, don't pay a solicitor if it's a straightforward estate, it's a complete waste of your money.
