Missing my MIL

This year has been hard in so many ways. DH is very difficult. He is out of work. My family has needed me. Work has been hard for me. We also lost my darling MIL. It has been hard for everyone. I sit outside of it a little, as she had 4 children of her own. Their grief, and that of her husband, comes first. But I saw a lot of her, and we were very close, and I really miss her. I don't know who to talk to about it. I do try to talk to DH, but things are not easy.

I'm so sorry. All I can say is cherish her in your memory, maybe by buying a special Christmas ornament or having a game you play in her honour. Grief is the price we pay for love, and your message suggests your family all loved each other so much, and your children should carry this forward. I hope that if my children choose to marry when they grow up, they marry someone who really loves and cares about their family this way, instead of the ones who seem to have a problems with in-laws just because they are in-laws (it's different if an in-law really is awful!), and no interest in trying to make good relationships for the sake of their family.

Thank you. I really appreciate it.

I really struggled when my in-laws passed. I was grieving but it was of course overshadowed by the grief of their own children. I threw myself into supporting DH.

I’m sorry you are having a hard time. Just know that your grief is valid and meaningful.
