I lost my husband a month ago and last night I had to take my dog to be put to sleep. I don't know what to do I'm breaking

I am sorry for your losses. I have lost a lot of people and animals so just take one day at a time and if you have family or friends ask for some support. This will pass and you will come out the other end but it just takes time.

DelphiniumBlue · 15/11/2025 18:37

I'm so sorry, that is a huge burden of grief for you to carry.

I can't say it better than this...there will come a time when you can think and 'be' a bit more easily than now. It's unbelieveably hard but you will get through it.
Until then, know that you are not alone, I'm definitely thinking of you and the others who read or post too! Take good care of yourself, even when you don't want to ❤

I’m so sorry, that’s so painful.

Lennonjingles · 15/11/2025 18:56

I’m so sorry, do you want to tell us about your dear husband and your dog, if you think it will help.

My DH had a whipple 2 1/2 years ago so we were lucky to get this time. Our lovely girl was a beautiful soul loved by all a 14 year old fox red lab. So lucky to have had 30 years with my DH and 14 with our girl. So blessed but have been crying for a month now. I do have a lot of support so I know I'm lucky but we thought we would have one more Christmas

My lovely girl came home today and she's now with my Dh. Now we wait to get the family together again to give them their final fairwell. I miss them both so much.

Hey OP,
How's it going?
Of course you miss them both, you always will! I mean that in a kind way...everyone (human or animal) that we love and care for will always stay with us :)
It doesn't even matter if you believe in a soul/spirit/afterlife or not!
The time you spent together, the memories you have, the thoughts and emotions you experienced with and because of them have shaped you.
It's still too soon to feel this, instead of the overwhelming grief...but you will get there ❤

Sending hugs to you op 💛

Thank you. I'm trying to learn to live on my own again. I can't deny it's a struggle. I've got something like 23 unread messages from family from New Year which I can't bear to open.

@allflownthenest sending you condolences and solidarity for your losses. I lost my DH last summer, still have my dogs but can't help having thoughts about 'that time' coming for them, even though it's likely a couple of years away, at least. I was OK with Christmas but New Year remains tricky. I don't like having the phrase 'my DH died last year' in my vocabulary. Keep taking it a day at a time Flowers
