IHT forms

Hello all

Not sure if this is the place for my question but I need help with IHT forms.

Currently wading through the 16 pages of IHT 400, and the many additional schedules that I have to fill in re my dad's estate. (This is despite everything going to my mum and no tax being payable. Such fun)

Anyway, that aside I have found I can't fill in all the schedules. For example the one regarding shares allows me to enter values in the boxes asking how many shares Dad held, and how much each share was worth on the DOD. It will not let me enter a value in the next box which is the total value, or the final total of everything which is literally the bit I need.

It's doing my head in. I've only managed to complete one schedule because the rest have gaps like this.

Has anyone else had this problem? How did you get round it, if so?

i don’t think I can help but wanted to reply as you have had no responses.

We completed forms for letters of administration and did paper forms. I found the Money Saving Expert forum on probate super helpful for questions.

Thanks! That is really helpful. I will check MSE.

In the end I went for the super high-tech solution of printing the forms out, writing in the boxes with a PEN and then scanning them in again.

Sometimes you can add additional pages too. Weirdly the HMRC probate helpline is really helpful!
