My dad died last month, and now I'm very much at the "dealing with paperwork" stage which I'm sure many of you will know. I've submitted the final SA100 tax form. Any ideas roughly how long it generally takes to process? He was due a substantial refund of overpaid tax (long story) at the time of his death.

I feel I won't have proper closure until he's finally laid to rest (his ashes will be interred with my mum's in October) and then when the estate is all sorted out. I know that this will take months with probate etc, but it would help me to have a rough idea even if I can't do anything about it.

Hi, I'm sorry for the loss of your dad. I'm not sure if my form was the same... honestly can't remember but I had to complete and return them for my DS as he was self employed. It was around two weeks after posting the forms back to HMRC that I received his tax rebate in my account. I didn't have a letter informing me of this, I just happened to check my account. Hope this is useful.x

Thank you, @Notgettinganyeasier, a relief that it didn't take months! I am sorry to hear about your DS.

Your welcome @MoralOrLegal and thank you. Still trying to process my DS not being here and his tax forms were an added upset but I'm relieved they are out of the way now even though he hated paying tax!
