Best friend lost partner

Feeling so sad, my best friend who lives abroad has lost her partner very suddenly. They have two beautiful children, one of whom is my goddaughter. I feel so inadequate being thousands of miles away. Any idea of what I can send ? Nothing will bring him back but I feel I have to do something.

Is there any way at all you can visit?

She's halfway across the world sadly it's just not feasible.

Well a friend in a different time zone is very helpful when you find yourself awake in the middle of the night and just needing someone to cry at.

I don’t know what you can send. In my experience it’s time and presence and words and hugs that matter most. Even if you can’t be physically present, just checking in and being someone she can talk to and not have to put on a brave face.

Often with grief there’s this barrage of sympathy and then it all fades away and you’re supposed to get on with it. Be there for the long haul, keep talking about him, remember when it’s his birthday or their anniversary.
