Solid gold urn necklace

Hi all,

I have recently lost my beautiful teenage son. We had him cremated as we wanted to keep him with us wherever we end up.

I am looking to buy a solid gold cremation urn necklace. I specifically want one where I put the ashes in myself as I have heard that you can't always trust the ones where you send the ashes off.

I have managed to find a few places selling these but what I really want is one where I can also either add a picture or a real handwriting engraving.

I think I am possibly asking too much but wondered if anyone had come across anything like this.

Thanks.

I am sorry for your loss. What an awful time for you.
Have you tried looking at Etsy? You might find someone doing something along those lines who would be willing to personalize it for you.

Hi OP I'm so sorry to hear you lost your son. That idea sounds lovely - have you considered contacting an actual goldsmith who might be able to make you something bespoke?

Janice Byrne Goldsmith (based in Ireland) does amazing work, I've only seen rings from her in person but it might be worth a contact for a bespoke necklace or perhaps even the pendant and you can source the necklace.

If she's not able to, you might be able to get a recommendation of a goldsmith who could make something like that.

Thank you both.

I have looked on Etsy but didn't think to contact the sellers directly to ask for exactly what I wanted.

I did think going to an actual goldsmith would be the best idea but I am not in the habit of visiting goldsmiths or buying bespoke jewellery so would have no clue where to look.

I did come across that online but want to be able to have it engraved with my son's handwriting.

Sorry I don't mean to be fussy.

You're not being fussy. You're stating what you're looking for and posters are more than happy to help you find.

I can't help with your search, but I hope that you find a lovely goldsmith who will be honoured to help you create what you're looking for.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the pain you are bearing. Not that it can be any help to you at all, but I'm sending my best wishes.

@solidgoldnecklace where about are you? If you are within striking distance of Sussex, I have recently used Richard from the repair shop (on tv). Would highly recommend. I'm so sorry for your loss 🌹

So sorry your son has died. I've not seen the neck urns you mention but I know a person who had some cremation ashes made into a diamond. She wears that around her neck. I'm not sure how it works but I think both carbon.

Or Etsy. This one can be engraved with handwriting...

Thank you all.

His death was completely sudden and unexpected and I am finding it hard to return to normal life.

I thought if I had him with me I might be able to start to go back out into the world. I have his handwriting from his Mother's Day card he gave me this year so it is his most recent message to me.

@anywherebutthere I have ordered the silver Etsy one as a back up if I can't get what I want in gold so thank you.

Something from here? I like the 'secret chamber' idea so that there is no risk of the ashes ever being lost from inside if something comes loose. I know the picture there is a ring but I know from experience that this jeweller (she is local to me) is really flexible about her designs if there is something you particularly want. My friend has a lovely necklace with her mum's handwriting on it (no ashes though).

Margaret Cross on Instagram has beautiful bespoke mourning jewellery, she also uses precious metals and stones. I’m pretty sure she is in the US, but it’s worth having a look at her stuff, as I’m sure she ships.

it sounds like your set on the urn but Ashes with Art in Worthing are amazing for pieces with ashes inside…. They have their own jewellers on site and so lovely you could give them a call and see if they could help or recommend someone to make what you want!

They’re so lovely, friendly and patient and have made two lovely pieces with first my mums ashes and then combining my mum and dads!
