My cousin

My cousin hung himself yesterday. He was 44yrs old. I hadn't seen him for about 12yrs.

I feel really upset by it but for some reason I don't think I should be because I haven't been in his life for 12yrs.

Does anyone else feel like this or maybe you have some advise?

My heart goes out to you. Sudden death is very hard to cope with. You're hurting because even though you hadn't seen him for so long, you cared about him. Are you in contact with his immediate family? Give them a call or send a card. And I find at times like this a good cry helps (don't hold back the tears, better out).

Thanks sdr I really appreciate that. I have sent some flowers today. I live in a different country from them and money is tight so I am also upset I can't make it for the funeral.

Really very sorry to hear this. Of course you are entitled to feel upset. I rarely see my cousins but I care about them. And suicide is such a powerful trauma in a family. My condolences.
