Missing Mother

Hello. This is my first time putting anything on Mumsnet, hope I’m doing it right! I wondered if anyone else had listened to this recent Radio 4 programme or had thoughts on the impact of losing a Mum at a young age (I was 12 when mine died of breast cancer)? The programme talked to women who found it hard to think/plan too far ahead and it’s definitely something I relate to. Since having a baby 7 weeks ago I’m also finding myself thinking so much about how hard it must have been for my Mum to leave us (I have younger siblings) and I battle a lot with worries about history repeating itself. Sorry for the gloomy post! I have had a lot of counselling over the years I guess I was just wondering if/hoping that others might have advice about what had helped them in terms of ways of thinking about the future. A previous counsellor really encouraged me to imagine growing old and seeing my children grow up which is something I’d really like to be able to do. Anyway would just love to hear any other thoughts on the programme too! Hope everyone is having a good evening.
