I am really sorry if this opens any old wounds for people, but could someone who has been through an early miscarage tell me exactly what came out?

I know that is awful, but couldn't think how else to ask.

NJ - maybe it is better to not to know for certain. My mother told me she thinks she m/cd before she had me, but in the days before home tests, she wasn't certain.

Many many women must m/c without knowing for certain.

Wisteria · 06/01/2008 16:14

It's a strange emotion - I was due to have an abortion about 8 years ago (long story and probably wouldn't have gone through with it) but then had a MC 3 days before, felt guilty crying, but happy all at the same time that I didn't have to go through with it.....

It may not have been a MC anyway, could quite likely have been a heavy period - I had some weird ones after dd2 as well.

NatalieJane · 06/01/2008 16:16

I think you are probably right, MC's kind of run in my family (if they can do that?!!) I have been very lucky having two gorgeous healthy boys with no MC's or even problems getting pregnant.

I suppose it is just one of things.

So sorry again for your loses, so so very sad.

I haven't cried, was a bit shaky getting out fo the bath, but I think it was all the blood more than anything, seemed like loads more than lost during giving birth! But it was hitting water so it spread out I guess.

I don't know, how can you feel sad for something lost, that you never knew you had?

OP posts:
lulumama · 06/01/2008 16:25

either way, you have had a shock and you are allowed to feel weepy, emotional and shaken

NatalieJane · 06/01/2008 17:13

I suppose I feel a bit, a bit relieved (as much as I would like another baby, it really isn't good timing at the moment), guilty that I have been lugging furniture around, drinking more alcohol than I care to remember over christmas and New Year, oh all the usual things I guess! And guilty that I'm not breaking down in tears and feeling all the things you are supposed to feel like after a MC.

But, I have two healthy happy, son's who mean more than the world to me, a lovely hubby who is trying his best to do the right thing today, even though he and I have no idea what that is!

I am going to see if I am still bleeding as heavily tomorrow and take it from there.

Thanks to everyone who has helped out, and again apologies for dragging anything up for those of you trying to forget xxxx

nat, sorry your all confused honey!! if you go to your gp you'll need to have done a pregnancy test before they'll send you to epu. epu do not accept without a positive test (sorry chick). i don't know if your gp will do one for you, but most don't... just wanted to warn you xx

NatalieJane · 06/01/2008 18:39

Hiya Sara, thanks for that, it's a bit silly though, what happens if it is a MC, I haven't got a BFP and not all of it has come away?

So muddled up right now, don't know what to think, how to feel, or what to do.

And if it isn't a MC, then what the bloody hell is it? Becasue that wasn't normal.

Wisteria · 06/01/2008 18:58

NJ - I think the best thing for you to do is to go and discuss it with your GP tomorrow, she is in a better position to give advice really and ultimately if you will worry about it then it would be better for you to take a test and find out for sure.

It was either a MC or it could have been a post natal period, I had one or two that were as you described after having my dcs.

As it was so early it is very likely that everything was vacated.

NatalieJane · 06/01/2008 19:03

Well going from my last period, which I guess that would be what the doc would do (meaning I was pregnant before I started on the pill) I'd have been about 6 weeks, I don't think many people have to have D&C's or anything at 6 weeks, do they?

Talk about going around in circles in my head!!

OP posts:
lulumama · 06/01/2008 19:04

NJ, you must go to the docs becasue as you say, if not a miscarraige, it is not normal x

Wisteria · 06/01/2008 19:06

I MC'd at 11 weeks and didn't need a D&C but had an ultrasound instead.

NatalieJane · 06/01/2008 19:09

I am starting to feel a bit sad, and I don't even know why. I suppose it is going to be a bit of an up and down week.

I will go to the GP's tomorrow, see what he has to say, other than that, there is nothing I can do.

oh NJ, ive clicked on this about 7 times but couldnt think of anything to say. i agree that you should go to your gp tomorrow, it definately doesnt sound right, and you need to make sure everythings ok.

NatalieJane · 06/01/2008 19:13

Thanks Lissie, and everyone.

What would I do without MN? (And that's not the first time I have written that!!)

go to your gp hun just to get it checked out. i had an early mc at just over 6 weeks (i had tablets to make it come away as it was missed) , there was a fair amount of blood like a very heavy period, some clots but the pain wasnt to bad just like normal period pains. of course your going to feel sad, i ahd only known i was pregnant for a week and a half and had had no intentions of having anymore and i was absolutly heart broken. hope your ok x

SianLeigh · 06/01/2008 22:21

hiya im new but im so sorry 2 hear your news! i had a mc at about 7wks in november and i didnt notice any big clots as such (i may have just not seen them) but lost a sort of stringy dark red clot thing and had what was like a period not overly alot of pain just some period aches

NatalieJane · 07/01/2008 00:57

Thanks Sian and Spugs - and welcome to MN Sian.

I had a bit more pain tonight,, and lost another gush of blood with some clots, but now the pain has almost gone and the blood is slowing down quite a lot, like a light period now.

Can't sleep, but going back to bed, because I am cold!

Thanks again everyone G'night xxx

sleep well.

NatalieJane · 07/01/2008 08:04

The baby, or what I think was the baby/sac, came away this morning with yet more blood and tiny clots, bleeding is a bit heavier again but no worse than a heavey period, and other than when I lost that this morning no more pain now, do I take it there is no point going to the doctors?

Woke up with an instant pregnant belly, exactly the same as with DS2, gone from my very much loved size 12 jeans back to my old pair of 18's that I had after DS2 was born, and that I had been trying to forget about for the past 13 months! Just hope no one notices my very much un-pregnant belly.

Anyway, thanks again everyone, good luck to all those who are TTC again, maybe I'll be joining you again one day. xxxxx

NJ - I'm so sorry to hear this. I think you should see to a doctor just to make sure everything is ok.

LoveAngel · 07/01/2008 10:07

Just a very, very heavy period for me (I was around 7 weeks pregnant I think). I didn't really have any clotting.

NatalieJane · 07/01/2008 10:13

I think I am going to leave the doc's for now, if I get any more pain or anything, I'll go then, but for now, there is nothing they can do anyway, and I expect that everything has come away now.

Told my mum this morning She cried, and I was just stood there with the phone in my hand not knowing what the F* to do.

This time yesterday I was just starting to let the excitement creep in that I could be pregnant, and now look...
