Practicalities: death certificate - original vs copies

My Dad recently passed away, and Mum and I are about to sit down and start to sort out admin things.

We have an original death certificate. Do we need to order any more originals, or will copies be ok?

TIA for any advice/tips.

We were advised to get 6. The solicitor, all the banks and other organisations wanted to see an original, and it's definitely easier if you have more than one, though 6 was probably overkill. This was pre-covid.

It depends on how many financial institutions you need to contact?
I would say if there's more than two (say, a bank and an investment firm) then get a few more. They will return the original to you but of course things can get lost some times.
PP suggestion of 6 seems excessive unless there the corresponding number of institutions to contact and you want to do them all at once.
We have done my grandad's estate ourselves. We had 5 places to contact but coped with 2 certificates just sent and returned.

I got 4 copies when my mother died, the banks, life insurance people, crematorium, others may want to see original. Best to get a few just in case as it takes a while for them to be sent back to you.
