My mum died today and I am thousands of miles away

My mum has been ill for a while. I have been living abroad in a country which is not issuing entry visas to foreigners due to covid, so I was delaying coming home to England because once I leave here I can't come back. As she got more ill I booked a flight for next Monday, but she has had a cardiac arrest and died today. She has never met my 2 year old, her granddaughter, only seen her on video. Numb.

I'm so sorry OP, that sounds awful, especially as so much of that was completely out if your control Flowers

Thanks I'm so sorry OP, there are no words. Don't be too hard on yourself and just take each hour at a time for now, you'll get through.

She was so lovely. Would have been such a brilliant granny to DD

I am so sorry. I had to scramble thousands of miles when my dad died abroad so I know some of what you must be feeling.
Please know that she would indeed have been a great gran to your dc and also that right now and always she would want nothing more than for you to be ok.
It will take all sorts of individual time for you to process all of this. When my own Ma died out of the blue I was and remain comforted by the thought that she would want me to be ok. It sometimes helps when things are bleak.
Support. And condolences.

I am so, so sorry. We had a similar experience earlier in the pandemic, losing both my FIL and grandfather in law, and were likewise unable to travel due to border restrictions here in Singapore. It’s just awful, and I’m so sorry this has happened to you. Flowers
