Catholics - Mass Cards

Ive just spoken to my pal in the States and her ds's closest friend was killed along with his dad on Friday in a car accident. The mum is critical in hospital. I was going to write a note to my friend as she and her family are very upset natually but also as a Catholic feel I should get a Mass card for the mother. However I dont know her but remember we had loads of mass cards for my dad from people my mum didnt know so wondered whether I should or not? I feel the need is instilled into me but social etiquette may be overshadowing it.

Is she (the mother) catholic? If she is then there's no reason not to, but if she isn't then I wouldn't as she probably wouldn't understand why you'd sent it.

My mum died recently and we got loads of Mass cards. Thought it was lovely that people bothered.

if she's a Catholic then I'm sure she would appreciate it. It's something you can do to help and shows the universality of the Church that you can be in communion with someone on the other side of the world.

A lovely thought
