Period problems

Hi all

My beloved mum passed away 22/03 unexpectedly. That morning I came on my period, that was the last one I had until now.

In 2016 I suffered a terrible miscarriage where I haemorrhaged and was rushed to hospital for surgery. I couldn’t stand up as I was losing vast quantities of blood. Now I’m panicking about this period. As I’m 147 days late I’m so scared that I’m going to bleed out again. My family are away so I’m on my own and worried that I can’t get help if needed.

Has anyone else not had a period for this long and everything was ok. Please put my mind at ease.

Thanks

Hello, I am sure you have considered this, but have you taken a pregnancy test?

I know stress can delay periods though, but I think you should seek advice from your gp or call nhs 111 just to put your mind at rest.

Hi Lamazedragon.

I’m definitely not pregnant. I’ve seen my GP 3 times stating how worried I am and that every month I have all period symptoms (cramps, swollen sore boobs, backache etc) just no bleeding, they just don’t seem to care. They just say it’s stress due to bereavement. If I’ve had 3 periods in a year then they won’t investigate further.

It seems I was only spotting today so who knows what’s happening with it.

I've had a long gap then a period due to stress. The period was fine. No better or worse than any other. I don't think it works like that.

I'm so sorry to hear all you have been through and for the loss of your Mum.

Sorry for the loss off your mum, I too lost my Mum in April and only had one period since then so think it's down to stress.

Had my period about 6 weeks ago and only then realised I hadn't had one since she had died when I came on, so currently I'm 14 days late again but I am in my late 40's so could be heading for menapause,

If don't return to normal I will go to doctors soon.
