Worried about mc for 3rd time

Haylstones · 26/07/2007 11:50

I'm about 10 weeks pg and bled a bit during the night. WHen I woke up it was mainly dark brown and has tailed off since then but not completely stopped (mainly when I wipe)and is just brown. I just passed a very small dark brown clot (not really clot I suppose as wasn't really bloody- was smaller than 1p)
I'm so worried about mc again and EPU will see me tomorrow. I'm slightly detached from it all so I don't know how I feel tbh
Any advice?

Lay down and keep your feet up.

If it is going to happen it will unfortunatley, i know how you feel i had 6 mc's inbetween my 2 children and each is as bad as the last, don't keep your grief in though do talk to thoses close to you about your feelings.

If it makes you feel better though i bled all through all my pg's just a small amount of dark brown blood when i wiped. I hope things turn out ok for you.

Haylstones · 26/07/2007 11:55

Thanks. I didn't know whether to say or not but it did happen after sex . Dont know if that's really relevant because it's never happened before

It could very well be mine was mostly after sex although when you see the EPU tomorrow they willprobably tell you to refrain from sex if this happens they did to me d was distraught!

Mumpbump · 26/07/2007 12:01

Hi Haylstones! Brown blood is meant to be old blood so hopefully nothing to worry about. Bright red blood is fresh and might be something. TBH, I don't think bleeding after sex in pg is that uncommon. But I agree that you should take it easy until you can get it checked out...

Haylstones · 26/07/2007 12:03

HI, cheers for advice. MIL is here for a week and I don't want to tell her so is hard to deal with! DH will come to EPU tomorrow, they've said to have a full bladder so hopefully that means they'll do a scan.

Sounds like it. I know how scary it is when you've already had two m/c, but this is a new pg and has every chance of being successful... I had two consecutive m/c directly before this pg so was super worried it was going to happen again, but so far, looking good. Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow and hope that you find something to distract you for today!

Mumpbump · 26/07/2007 12:06

I mean - sounds like they'll do a scan...

Haylstones · 26/07/2007 12:08

Haylstones ? I?m sorry this is happening it is so scary whatever the reason. The good positive things you have said are that it was dark brown so not new and that it is tailing off. Have you had any other symptoms like pain or headache or blurry vision? It could be that it is because now is about the time your period would have been due? I had a few bleeds last pg (which I MC) and one this pg so I am terrified about bleeding. Mine this time was around 8 weeks and was brown and not accompanied with anything. So hope it is all fine. Sending good and positive vibes. The fact that it happened after sex is also positive ? sounds to me like your super sensitive cervix has just got a bit knocked and bleed a little ? that has happened to me too. Try to rest and stay positive and hopefully tomorrow will be all about reassurance

Thanks to all. The bleeding was fresh at first, very bright red (this was straight after doing the deed, should never have made up after that argument)which is why I am so worried. IT has been dark brown pretty much since I woke up and I'm not actually bleeding now, just brown staining when I wipe. Roll on tomorrow morning

Haylstones - whilst there are no guarantees, I have a strong suspicion that everything is going to be alright... If the bleeding is tailing off, I think that is a very positive sign. Take comfort in that for the moment and tomorrow will hopefully bring good news...

Taichimum · 26/07/2007 15:47

Good news that it was after sex. That is often the cause of spotting during pg. That happened to me at 17 weeks with DS and he was absolutely fine. It could be a whole host of other things too that do not mean the worst.
Have you had any pain? With my two mc's I had a bit of red blood, a bit of brown blood and then almost nothing. Then it started again the next morning with period type pain and also sharp pains when I sat down. This is how I knew it was not just a bit of spotting.
There is no way of knowing for sure until tomorrow but it sounds like they are going to scan you, thank god. Insist on it so you know for sure.
Poor you you must feel crap we are here for you on the pg after mc thread.... let us know how it goes tom.

Haylstones · 26/07/2007 16:08

Thanks. I haven't had any pains or cramps etc, still got brown blood when I wipe but nothing fresh again. Our hospital are not running outpatient appointments etc just now because we haven't got any water here so I hope they don't mind me coming up- presumably mw wouldn't have made me an appt if they didn't have facilities to see me?
MIL has taken dd out for a walk to recycling bin so am having some time out on MN!

Hi Haylstones -- so sorry for your worries.
I bled everything from brown to bright red in my current pregnancy. It was not a lot, but enough (IYKWIM). I was convinced I would lose the baby but am now 24 weeks and it seems to be still alive.
On a sad note, with me mmc I bled only once and only a little bit (after sex und much less than with the viable pg). It stopped, I was relieved, but it had been a bad sign in the end...
So, unfortunately, it can be either, really. Please stay positive and somehow get through to tomorrow. I hope your scan won't be delayed and you will see a healthy little bean. Thinking of you!

daisyandbabybootoo · 26/07/2007 16:45

Hi Haylstones, sorry your having these worries

Bleedign after sex in pregnancy can be due to cervical erosion and is nothing to worry about.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow. I hope that all is well

Just thought I'd post a quick update to say I had a scan earlier today and saw heartbeat and nothing of any concern. Not sure what exactly caused the bleeding (guess was probably a cervial erosion caused by nookie) as nothing showed on the scan. I'm now 9+5 (9+3 according to scan but baby was curled up tightly so they couldn't get full length measurement)so fingers crossed evrything goes Ok from now. Still early days really!
Thanks for all the support yesteday (and replies on pg after mc thread

AW Haylstones, that's great. you must be feeling much more positive about things now, and seeing that wee heartbeat must have been very emotional.

Good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy
