Feel guilty

My mum passed away recently and am in the process of flat clearing and selling, we need to sell pretty quickly now to put towards my dad's care home fees. Clearing out stuff is heartbreaking, I know you can't keep everything I just don't have the room but the stuff you need to put out to the tip it's killing me.Stuff is going to charities shops but there are things that won't be wanted or needed by anyone else and I need to throw out ,but when I go to do it and see my wee mum's stuff just tossed in kills me .Sorry just wanted a wee hand hold.

Flowers It’s a tough job isn’t it? Going through the same thing at the moment. I’m trying to be ruthless but the guilty feeling is still there. Have you got anyone to help you?

I have just been through this, and yes it’s horrible.

I had to do it very quickly too and didn’t live near enough to my Mum to be able to even try and give away stuff myself, I had to get a house clearance company to do it after I’d taken everything I wanted - which wasn’t much due to no space. I felt very guilty and still do, I keep thinking of her little house & all her things Sad but there really wasn’t any choice in my circumstances and it sounds the same for you. Maybe try to remember you’re doing it for your Dad and hopefully that might make it seem a bit less painful Flowers

Sounds silly but I asked friends to help me and ‘take stuff home’. What they did with it after that was up to them (and I said I didn’t want to know) but in my head they’re loving the stuff as much as my wonderful late Dad did.
