Early this morning I had a call to say my best friend had died so suddenly and so young...she was only 33. Words can't explain how I feel and I haven't a clue what to say....just feel empty and don't no what to say to her family....I read a poem another mumsnetter placed on this board but can't remember it but just knew it was beautiful and made me cry at the time

There is nothing you can say and you shouldnt try, be there if they want you and not if they dont. Listen if they want to talk and dont be afraid of silence or emotion, Just let them be. A poem might be nice at the funeral, but not now, would seem a bit forced

Oh OP, this happened to me too. It seems inconceivable, doesn't it? I'm sorry. xx

I'm so sorry, what an awful shock. I think it's totally acceptable to not know what to say and it's ok to say that
Sending you much love, it's very tough xx
