I naturally m/c on Saturday. How long do I expect to bleed. i saw my GP yesterday who seemed surprised I was still bleeding. I cant get a scan until thursday and she seemed to imply I should stop bleeding by then, but I am still bleeding today and it doesnt look like reducing

hi teejay....sorry to hear you have miscarried.
i am in the same boat, started to m/c last monday, i was 11 weeks but the scan showed the foetus died at 8 weeks. i was told to return for a scan in 2 weeks, as the bleeding should have finished by then. i am still bleeding (day 9 now). it was light the first 2-3 days, then very very heavy (4-5 towels an hour for a few hours plus huge clots and a lot of pain - sorry for tmi) and although it has slowed down, and i am no longer bleeding at night, i think it may continue for a few more days. i was basically under the impression it could take up to 2 weeks. i suppose it depends on how far along you were. hope this helps. if its any consolation, i know how it feels and i'm really sorry to hear you miscarried. sucks huh?

Hi, I amgoing through the same thing. I started bleeding 3 weeks ago when I was 11 weeks (foetus was only 5-6wks) I am still bleeding now, about as heavy as a period still, although I have had 2 episodes of heavy blood loss.

I have been told it differs drom person to person, I never expectedit to go on for this long though. I think for most people it is over quicker.

Hope you are ok x

cheers guys- makes me feel better knowing others are in the same grim old boat. I hate hassling doctors but you dont know what's normal and when to be worried

Ah we miss you . Glad DS is keeping your spirits up. DH and I keep saying the same, that if anything does go wrong, at least we have DS who is a lovely little lad, and makes me smile all the time .

I have been looking at some studies on the computer. One was suggesting average bleeding time 11 days when letting nature take its course, but there will be people longer and shorter than that.

I was 7/8 weeks pg last time and I bled terribly for about 10 days then stopped then after a week or so started bleeding again..now it's heavy spotting on and off...

lisa111 · 21/06/2007 13:04

Hi teejay,

I naturally m/c last month, i as 7/8 weeks, my bleeding lasted 7 days. I had my scan 2 days after bleeding started, nothing could be seen on the scan.

By the time you read this you will have had your scan and maybe stopped bleeding.

Take Care xx
