My wonderful, warm, funny and caring Dad died earlier today, i’m Utterly heartbroken yet can only smile each time I think of him. So many wonderful memories from a lovely childhood that my sister and I had, to the constant support from him and my Mum, and then his love for his grandchildren who all adored him. He was only 70 but lived a life packed full of friendliness, love and good humour. It feels good to write this down. We love and miss you Dad x

Flowers I'm so sorry for your loss. 70 is no age. It sounds like you had a lovely relationship.

loveisenough · 17/01/2018 23:43

Thank you both. We had a wonderful relationship and I feel so lucky to have been able to.

Sorry to hear this.
I understand how you feel as I lost my lovely dad late last year.
Hopefully your family will all draw close and be a good support for each other.

Flowers and a comradely hug for you. I lost my own lovely dad a few months ago.
We are lucky to have had them in our lives but it sure hurts to lose them.

BuckingFrolicks2 · 17/01/2018 23:47

He sounds like a wonderful dad, husband and grandfather. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I’m so sorry for you loss

loveisenough · 17/01/2018 23:47

I don’t think it feels real at the moment. Thinking of everyone else who has lost a parent.

What wonderful words you've written about your Dad. I lost mine too, just over a year ago. I'm glad he lived his life to the full.

loveisenough · 17/01/2018 23:53

It would have been my parent’s golden wedding anniversary in the summer too, it feels sad that they were almost there

So very sorry, it's one of the toughest things life throws at you. I was poleaxed when I lost mine.

BalloonDinosaur · 17/01/2018 23:55

I'm so sorry for your loss. For me, the first few days were so weird and a bit of a blur. Don't try and predict how you will feel any any given point, just let it come and look after yourself, don't forget to eat/drink etc.

Cherish those lovely memories Thanks

loveisenough · 17/01/2018 23:59

Thank you all again everyone for your thoughts and kind words, it really does help.

Flowers so sorry for your loss. I lost my wonderful dad in September, he was 73 and 'young' in his outlook and ways. I feel he never got to be an old man.
4 months on and I still miss him so much. be kind to yourself xx

Sending lots of love to you, thinking of you. My mum died when I was a teenager and even now the days afterwards are just a blur. Here if you want to talk or share memories xx

Scrumptiousbears · 18/01/2018 20:24

Sorry you lost your dad. I lost mine in December 2013. It still upsets me that he is not here.

loveisenough · 19/01/2018 21:13

I am fine and then it hits me, but we have managed to have lots of family laughs, looked at photos and really have only happy memories. MyGuideJools I know what you mean, my Dad was a very young 70 and RedPanda25 that must have been so hard for you x
