Pregnancy test after d&c

I think that this is one of the few circumstances in which you can get a false positive? So, how does someone work out if they are really pg or not after the d&c (clearly I mean sufficient time after to have got pg!)?

I was told that the HGC can remain in your body for 6 weeks but was the line faint? Do you think that you could be? I hope so!

Someone far more knowledgeable is bound to be here any minute to answer your question more thoroughly.

I haven't done a test yet but am thinking of doing one soon (once I work out this false positive business as I wouldn't want to get my hopes up but at the same time I wouldn't want to wait for months and then find out I was pg (I was 11.5 wks when I last found out, bit of a shock!)) + of course there's the added complication of not knowing whether AF is late or not!

This is a tough one. The HCG hormone stayed in body for about 8 weeks after I started to miscarry. Have you put yourself in a position to be pg again? It's certainly possible to be pg fairly quickly after a D and C as your first period and ovulation can occur about 3 weeks or so after the op. The best way would be to see your GP for a 'quantitive' test to see if the hormone is doubling every 48 hours, that will show a positive pgcy test and not the remains of the hormone from your last pgcy. I really wish you well though!!! xx
