Funeral planning

I’m not sure if this is in the right place.

My DH is terminally ill. He doesn’t really have long left. We moved 3 years ago 3 hours away from our family and friends. He wants his funeral in our home town but to die in our current home. Does anyone know if you have to pay each county to transport the body through? I’m going to ring a local funeral directors on Monday but thought I’d ask here in the meantime.

Hi, Niffler. So sorry that you have to make these plans. This link makes it plain that the county fees are a myth. It looks like a decent website anyway, full of useful info.

I hope your DH gets his wish to die at home.

Thinking of you. Thanks

You don’t have to pay the counties, no, but your funeral director will include a fee within your funeral costs to transport the body from the place of death (eg hospital, home) into their care at the funeral home.

If you have anymore Qs OP, feel free to PM. I work in the industry Flowers
