I'm so sorry. It's heartbreaking. Would you like to tell us about your lovely Mum?

Hotpinkangel19 · 10/06/2017 10:47

Mum was lovely, she stayed home with me while my dad worked away, I always had her when I was little, she used to run a playgroup and always made things/crafts with me, always built lego, bought us both roller skates to go skating :-) always went on my school trips to help. She was an amazing cook/baker. She had me when she was 37, and was 70 when she died. She was a lovely funny grandma too. I'm 10 weeks pregnant now and she never knew. She had a large stroke at the age of 66, and was given 24 hours to see what would happen... she pulled through but was left severely disabled, struggled to communicate, eat properly. She needed carers 4x a day to get her dressed and for personal care. She developed post stroke epilepsy and had numerous seizures - each one leaving her weaker. She managed to pull through aspiration pneumonia and a Pulmonary Embolism earlier this year but they left her very weak, she stopped eating and was completely bedbound. They tried putting tubes in for feeding and nutrition but she pulled them out - she decided she had enough. She was placed on end of life care on 13th April and for some reason managed to stay with us until the day after my husband's birthday - 5th June. I arrived at their home at 9:40am and she passed away at 10:30. We had no idea as it didn't seem imminent. I wasn't even holding her hand. I hope she knew how much I love her. X

She did know. The love you feel for her is so obvious, just from reading your post.

She sounds like a lovely lady and a wonderful Mum.

Of course she knew - that was why she waited for you to be there before she could go.
Massive hugs to you. Even though you're know it's coming, you never expect it. Flowers

I'm really sorry to read about your Mum. It sounds like you had a lovely relationship.
My mum died very suddenly 8 years ago...it took a long time to come to terms with, but I can promise that it will get easier to cope.
Sending you much strength to get through the coming days, weeks and months. X

She sounds lovely Hotpinkangel. What wonderful memories you have of her. There's no doubt she knew how you felt about her, there is love pouring out of your description of her.

Flowersto you OP, and MissPilly88 too.

My friend has just lost her mum too, I helped her with the eulogy and she read it with such strength and determination...I could never have coped with that...We were so proud and knew her DM would have been too.

She is having a lot of Up and down days. And it was a very unexpected death, her mum was 54...But the courage she has shown has inspired us all everyday.

Wishing you a lot of Love OP.
