My DS is 10 and yesterday a close friend of his passed away after a short illness. He is devastated. I don't know how best to help him, I have googled but all the books I can find are about parent or grandparent loss

Muddles, puddles and sunshine. Recommended to me by an educational psychologist.

Perfect as it is a mixture of writing about thoughts and feelings, memories and thoughts about the person who died and activities to make things to keep to remember them. Works out as a beautiful book to treasure full of memories but also am opportunity for a child to highlight their worries and thoughts. We had a 9 year old who bottled up her grief, still won't show me the book, but I've had a look quietly and discovered worries I never knew she had and can then address them subtly later on.

I hope that helps. X
