Anniversaries

Hello. New to this forum, but struggling with the 4th anniversary of my husband dying, 10 days before his 40th birthday. In those 4 years I have been through hell, but had so much help, and met a fellow widow who I am now married to. I am very lucky. But god, it hurts that he's not here. x

I don't have much more to offer than a hand hold really.

I too lost my husband in his 30's and wholeheartedly agree that anniversaries are shit. His birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, our wedding anniversary, and worst of all, the anniversary of his death.

I'm not as far on as you - it was the second anniversary just a few weeks ago. I've met someone since the first anniversary and I thought that might help a bit. I don't know if it did, really, though it was comforting that he sat up all night with me. It added more emotions into the mix though - a bit of guilt, I guess.

One thing I've found hard recently is that people have stopped talking to me about my DH. They do a bit to our kids, but less than before. I can't work out if it's the passage of time and would have happened anyway, or if it's because me getting engaged to someone else has made them
feel awkward about that.
