Holding my Dad's Hand

Sat beside him in hospital, holding his hand as his clock slowly winds down

88 years of love, joy, tragedy, loss, adventure and family.

I hope by the morning he is with my Mum, his son and Grandson xx

I will stay with you my darling Dad

I wish I'd had that chance, Shosha. My dad died in March this year - I wish someone had been with him at that moment.

Flowers to you and to him.

Truckingalong · 25/09/2016 23:22

These are precious moments. Tell him you love him a thousand times over. Wishing you every strength.

Potentialmadcatlady · 25/09/2016 23:24

Thinking of you as you stay with your Dad tonight....your words are lovely..I hope all stays calm

Shosha1 · 25/09/2016 23:34

Dad came from a small village in Somerset, joined the RAF, met Mum and spent 28 years travelling the world.

Many many years spent in the Far East

They had 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl.

Tragedy at losing Mum from cancer at only 59.

But now all his children, 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson, hold him in a special place in their hearts.

Sounds like he saw great adventure and great sadness too. Being loved and adored by many though is clearly a testament to him.

Littlelostdinosaur · 25/09/2016 23:54

Sorry for what you're going through, sounds like he has had a wonderful life of adventure and love. Tell him everything you think of him while you have the chance. My dad died suddenly and unexpectedly in April, no one was with him and it hurts everyday that he was alone, I wish I'd had the moment you have now to tell him how wonderful he was to me. Sending you love at an awful
Time X

Thinking of you. It's a hard thing to go through but I've never regretted the days spent with my dad. It's always meant a lot that we were with him at the end Flowers

TheBouquets · 26/09/2016 14:53

Thinking of you. I was with people in their last hours and I have never wanted it any other way. You are doing the best thing.

Shosha1 · 26/09/2016 18:33

Dad became very peaceful in the early morning

At 12 mid day he sighed and slipped away.

What am I going to do without you Dad x
