first AF after M/C - advice needed....

I suffered a miscarriage nearly 4 weeks ago (naturally) and bled for about 10 days. I was scanned and confirmed I had passed everything a week after it happened.

Since last Sunday I have had what I can only say is my first AF but much heavier than normal. I have always been on a short cycle (25 days) but I thought that after M/C I would be waiting a lot longer before my cycle resumed.

No pain or strange effects though. Had anyone experienced this before?

Hi Gillian
Im sorry about the miscarriage.
I was exactly the same as you, It was extremely heavy and very painful though. The next couple were heavy too, but settled down after 4 months or so.

Take Care of yourself.

My first period after my first (natural) miscarriage was only a day later than usual. If the hcG left your body fairly quickly after the mc then your cycle can be back on track very soon.

Thinking of you.

thank you so much for your advice. Nice to see I am not alone even though it is a horrible 'club' to belong to. Going to the docs for travel vaccines later on today and have asked to see a GP too just to be checked out.

I'm sure I am fine though. Only cruel irony is the fact that I have had to buy maternity pads to cope with it as my usual ones were useless. Sigh!

SOrry for your loss gillian. I too experienced a heavy first period after both my miscarriages but it does settle after a couple of months. I only waited a couple of months in both instances before trying again (2 ds now 5 years on). Good luck to you

GP said that this was definatley my period and that I was back to my regular cycle. Because I m/c naturally the first period is quite heavy but the next ones should be back to normal. If I am still bleeding next week I have to go back but I have noticed it is finally easing so I may be able to get a full night's sleep without having to go to the loo!

Thanks for all your advice ladies.
