Memorial for a parent

Hello. My father died ten years ago, and is still missed. I would like to do something to mark the anniversary of his death, and I would like it to be something physical that we can go and see in the future. He was not religious at all, and he believed in helping others. A tree doesn't really seem right, and I am worried that it won't last, and I am not sure where to plant it. Any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated. For all those of you who are reading these pages because you have lost someone close to you - I wish you all the best. I hope that this is an appropriate place to ask for this advise.

We had a bench overlooking his favourite view.

I also think a bench is a lovely idea.

I live near the sea & often walk along the front where there are many benches in memory of people. I always look at the name & give the person a thought when I sit on one.
