Help needed with message to friend

A woman I know, just a little, through a mutaul interest told me that her DM had died and the funeral was today.

I only have her email address but would like to send her a message, perhaps the day after the funeral. I know she has no close family and i'd just like her to know someone is thinking of her.

Can anyone help draft something for me as I'm really unsure what to say.

I would say exactly that. "Dear X, I was having coffee with Y and she mentioned that your mother has died. I'm so terribly sorry to hear that, and wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you. with all my love, Z"

If you would like to know her more, why don't you include something like "I'd love to drop in some time for coffee and a chat - let me know if you'd like that, and we can fix a day".

People who are grieving need company, and kindness.
