Hi there, sorry about your news. many hugs. There was a piece on "Womans Hour" Radio 4 yesterday about molar pregnancy talking to a woman who had experienced this and a consultant. If you felt this would be any help I think you can access the radio 4 website and click on womans hour.Am technologically inept otherwise would try and post link on here for you.The consultant said it was highly treatable and that many women went on to have normal pregnancies.

sunnylb,
I had a molar pregnancy nearly 6 years ago after having my dd. After a year of tests during which time I was trying not to get pregnant (as they tell you it is not a good idea), I was given the all clear and had ds soon after.
Hope everything goes OK for you, although is a bit of a pain going to the hospital (as I had to do) every few weeks.

Just thought I'd share the news that my levels are done on my second post-D&C test to just 18!!!

Just hope it keeps going down to 0....

Hi sunnylb, I had a molar pregnancy just three months ago. I am now going for monthly blood levels which so far have been normal ...due another one this thursday. I am fine most of the time now but get a little worked up when levels are due!
I know what you are going through.. I found it very difficult at the time and i still get upset about it...grieving over the loss of my pregnancy and also the worry of any complications that might arise!
How far gone were you and was it partial or complete? How long will your follow up be?
I feel fortunate that i was detected early cos i started bleeding at 7 weeks. Although this means they are not sure what type it was i only need 6 months follow up...all going well!

sunnylb · 12/09/2006 21:24

Hi Tod

Thanks for your message.
I found out I had a molar after a D&C. It was never suspected and assumed it was a 'normal' miscarriage - although no sign of the embryo and that happened at 7 weeks.
I've had one test result and that came back as 18, which i was delighted by... due another result tomorrow so I'm absolutely nervous!!!

how much longer do you need monitoring for?

Lisa

I NEED ANOTHER THREE MONTHS FOLLOW UP.....ALL GOING WELL MY LAST SAMPLE WILL BE DECEMBER! CANT WAIT FOR FOLLOW UP TO BE OVER AND JUST GET ON WITH THINGS....AM DUE LEVELS TOMORROW SO AM A LITTLE NERVOUS BUT IT IS GETTING EASIER!
18 IS VERY GOOD.....MY FIRST COUPLE OF LEVELS WERE IN THE THOUSANDS BUT LUCKILY DROPPED VERY FAST OVER FOUR WEEKS TO NORMAL AND HAVE REMAINED THAT WAY SO FAR. lESS THAN 2 IS NORMAL.....WHEN IS YOUR NEXT LEVEL DUE?

TOD · 13/09/2006 22:10

Silly me just re-read your message.......best of luck with result tomorrow.....keep me posted!

sunnylb · 19/09/2006 14:55

Hi Tod

I've been told my result is normal at 3. I need to do urine samples once a month until feb and then can try again for a baby. It seems to far away but i can't wait and I'm so pleased the levels are normal. How is yours going?

Lisa

hi lisa, hope you see this...delighted to hear your levels are down. I KNOW feb seems like a long way away but time does fly by.....the first couple of months dragged by for me and i couldnt think of much else but what i (we) had just been through. Everyone has their own way of coping and grieving but it does get easier.one day soon you will realise at the end of the day that you didnt think about it all day...then you know things are getting better!
As for me....my levels are staying down....have started back on folic acid.....just to be ready for dec....all going well!
sorry i left it so long to reply but have started new job and have had no time to log on....hope you are starting to feel a little better but it does take time....i'm still getting there too!!

sunnylb · 20/10/2006 17:24

Hi Tod

I've just read your message. You are right about realising that a day goes by without thinking about it ALL the time!! Plus i'm only on monthly monitoring now so that makes things easier... i even forgot to do my samples on the last day it was due!!

So you have until December? Not long now then! Are we allowed to try after the last result is on or before?

Take care
Lisa

Sunnylb - I agree, you do eventually manage to start getting a life back together, although I still have off-times, even 4.5 yrs on - it doesn't help that my last treatment coincided with my dd. I am glad that, 2yrs later, my ds didn't decide to arrive a week earlier than he did, as this might have been even more problematical.

My 18m ds does, however, create a significant distraction - I hope that this is encouraging!

TOD · 07/01/2007 11:44

HI SUNNYLB, JUST A NOTE TO SAY HELLO AND HOPE YOUR BLOODS AND LIFE ARE GETTING BACK TO NORMAL! I HAVE NOT HAD ACESS TO THE INTERNET FOR LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS BUT AM BACK NOW!!!!
I HAD MY LAST FOLLOW UP OVER CHRISTMAS AND MY BLOODS REMAINED NORMAL FOR THE 6 MONTHS SO I WAS GIVEN THE GO AHEAD TO START AGAIN....JUST AS WELL COS I STOPPED USING PRECAUTIONS A MONTH AGO AND I DID A POSITIVE PREGNANCY TEST YESTERDAY.....AM OVER THE MOON BUT VERY NERVOUS AS I DIDNT EXPECT TO GET PREGNANT SO SO SOON......JUST HOPING ALL IS OK!
FEB IS ONLY AROUND THE CORNER FOR YOU SO FINGERS CROSSED.
I WOULDNT ADVISE GIVING UP THE PRECAUTIONS UNTIL GIVEN THE GO AHEAD....I SAY MY DOC WILL HAVE A FEW CHOICE WORDS BUT I DONT CARE AS LONG AS ALL IS WELL!

Hi everyone
I've only just seen this thread so I hope someone gets to read this!
I had partial molar in July but it took until November to diagnose this - and that was only because I had 2 major bleeds. On the second bleed I lost half my blood, and had to have 2 blood transfusions.
Had a D&C at the end of Nov and luckily my HCG level then dropped and has been consistently at 3 every week since then. I've been told 6 months until trying again - so we are fingers crossed for the end of May and I am counting the weeks.
Funny thing is when I was really ill I almost forgot the longing I had between July and Nov to conceive again. But now it is back with avengence. My husband is really worried about me because he thinks I'm obsessing about the whole thing, so I'm mostly keeping it tied up inside of me. I seem to spend most car journeys when I am alone in tears - but May will get here and then I will at least know we are back to trying.
Good luck to all of you out there who have been in a similar position.
