cycles after m/c

Were your cycles normal after m/c? ro were they a bit odd for a while?how soon did they settle down?

reason i ask is i m/c on june 1st, bled for 4 weeks, had period a wk later then have been off for 2 weeks on for a week since then and started getting the same "due on" feelings

i would see the doctor, did you have a D&C?
a few years back i miscarried at 12wks and had that done. after 5wks had v. heavy but normal period all went back to normal with next one
if nothing else you are loosing a lot of blood.

no not a d&c, was a missed m/c and was told to let it happen naturally, was 10 wks but baby had died at 6 if that makes a diff? they aren't heavy periods but periods nonetheless

sorry to hear its really tough i really do not know just going on the advice given to me at the time.
i had the possibility of 'letting it happen' but really did not want to go through it at all.

did they give you a number to call? when my first period after D&C arrived it was a flood and i freaked, so i called them and they were great and reassuring. its a hard time to be feeling uncertain on top of all other feelings

Hi, I would try not to worry too much, I had a missed m/c at 11 weeks (baby died at 7/8), also bled for 30 days, then had d&c and periods didn't return to normal for another 2 months. I think it is normal for them to be odd for a bit!

I had a missed miscarriage, medically managed at nearly 12 weeks. My periods didn't return to normal for about 3 months I think. Your pattern of bleeding sounds very similar to mine. I think it's all pretty normal - it just takes a while to sort itself out. Take care of yourself. It's a horrible time, but it does get better.

Hi MoM- If I were you I'd have a word with your gp or early pg unit- maybe they could scan you to make sure everything's (sorry) gone. I bled v heavily for 10 days and then had a godawful period after that.

andi, i had 3 scans , 1st was to confirm it was m/c, 2nd to check everything had gone which it hadn't and 3rd to see if it had all gone which it still hadn't. wasn't offered anything else, just told it would prob go with a period, which i have had 3 of since i m/c on june 1st!

MoM- as you can see by some of the other postings on this thread alot of ladies took time to get back to 'normal'. I too had my mc on the 1st June and my biggest concern was the hcg level was still high for 8 weeks- on my last scan it showed the lining of the womb was stil slightly thick- then on the next period- the next day as it happened - i bled super heavy. I wasn't happy to realise I had had this in me for 8 weeks, but it seems to be considered natural- Why are they just leaving you to it? I suppose they think you'll pass it all in your periods but if you're worried go back to the epu. As SFX says - you're losing alot of blood and your mind is messed up with all this. Let me know how you get on I feel for you.

Andi, i'm sorry for your loss too heres me waffling on like i am the only one i n all teh world going thru this right now - sorry

i never had my hcg levels checked at all. i was "left to it" because they said at 2nd scan that what was left was too small to be offered surgery as they may not find it. I have no idea whats the "norm" as this was my 1st m/c.

Thinking that i will see how this one goes and then if i come on again and as heavy (sorry tmi) then i will go to GP next time

Good luck MoM- that sounds like a plan. i didn't feel I had received good post mc care at all- the only reason I knew my hcg levels were high was because I was doing home pg tests and they were constantly pos!! Boy did that mess with my head as I was reading that I could become pg straight after mc but it was still the residual lining in my womb causing the hormones to remain high.Had lots of tears over this with dp pulling his hair out. I had to go back on my own strength and ask for another u/s..luckily there was no infection etc. Give it one more period and then ask for another u/s to make sure NOTHING is left- then ask them to measure your hcg to make sure it's below 5. can i just add a little somthing...

mom i would definately go back and check with the epu and ask for another scan, reason being is that that little piece of tissue left inside could go on to cause infection. i dont want to scare you but just thinking of your health.

i had a missed m/c on the 14th june i was 12 weeks baby died at 8 and i chose to let it happen naturally which it thankfully did a cpl of days later..but i went on to get an infection so just want you to double check. better to be safe than sorry.
