Funeral flowers

My lovely, brave mother died on Saturday, following a very long battle with breast cancer.

I want to organise the flowers for on top of the coffin but am a bit stumped as to where to go. My parents' house is a couple of hours drive from me and I don't know any of their local florists. I've sent mum some flowers via some of their local florists and they were a bit of a disappointment.

Can anyone please recommend a nationwide supplier? I want the flowers to be special for mum but am nervous of getting it wrong!

Also, is a 'flower spray' best or. . .?

Sorry for your loss. If you do a google search for funeral flowers you should get some hits at the top of the page for national suppliers.

To be honest, I've ordered with the national comapny Serenata Flowers before and they were awful, so I'm a bit nervous. I've also used two local florists and they were no better.

Funeral flowers need to be perfect!

My mum died last month, so I understand how you must be feeling, am so sorry for your loss.
Call the funeral director, they will have a list of florists they use. When I had the name of a florist I called them up & explained what we Wanted. I ordered various tributes and a " coffin top" ( horrid name) made from different white scented flowers, it was beautiful & covered the whole coffin.
The florists invoice went to the undertaker so we just had one bill.
The undertakers were great and even organised the order of service.

The funeral is being organised by the Co-Op but we feel their floral arrangements are a bit too traditional for mum. She was 69 but very very young in spirit.

Will just keep looking.

I'm really sorry about your mum, OP, where is the funeral maybe somebody can suggest a good florist?

When a close friend died last year we had a bouquet of bright flowers done, sunflowers, bird of paradise, roses in all colours etc as it suited his personality and sunny nature maybe you could request something similar?

We used our local florists and we had an anchor made for my dad in his favourite flowers and colours .( he was in the navy ) It was expensive but amazing .. I'm not that keen on mum / dad words but each to their own .

Also they took them to the funeral directors for us .

My dad was the most amazing gardener. We chose a dark wicker coffin and the florist threaded country garden style flowers round the sides. On the top a hand tied sheaf of country flowers. It was beautiful.
