Films about bereavement

Hi,

My father-in-law died unexpectedly a few months ago. Since then my mother-in-law has been living with us. She's been finding that reading about other people's experiences of bereavement has been hugely helpful and comforting but she's very tired and also isn't used to reading in English so its not always that easy for her.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend films (in English) about experiences of bereavement. It can be anything really, even comedies, bleak stuff as well as uplifting stories.

This is going to sound so stupid and i know she is an older lady but, the lion king is one of the best films i know about bereavement. its also a very uplifting film too with lovely songs. you prob think im mad. x

Sleepless in Seattle? I mean - it is about learning to love again but there is a lot in there about the bereavement too. Plus it's a nice watch - especially coming up to Valentines Day. Your poor mil

There is a film called jack and Sarah. It's a right lovely weepy but funny too.

Mr magoriums wonder emporium is about a very old quirky magical man getting ready to die. It's a kids film but I enjoyed it.

The very most miserable film is who will love my children. It's horrendous and miserable and I cry throughout. Not really recommended. Not sure why I typed it tbh!

When did you last see your father? is a real weepy film.

I know you're after films, however I can't recommend the book 'Before I Say Goodbye' by Ruth Picardie. It may be an 'easy' read as it is a compilation of Ruth's Observer columns, e-mails, letters and diary entries. Utterly heart breaking and life affirming at the same time.

The Boys Are Back is very sad but good. It is about a journalist who loses his wife. Clive Owen is in it.

Four weddings and a funeral? The section at gareth's funeral is very moving.
