It's my ds's birthday tomorrow. Found out at his party last year that my sister had died in her sleep. Now tomorrow is ds's birthday and we are holding a party at the same venue. I was really composted when I found out and carried on as normal. Just worried I I might fall to pieces tomorrow. At least I have dh with me this time to pick up slack. Also funeral was on ds2's birthday but that another challenge.

Thoughts are with you.

How was it york? xx

yorklass · 02/05/2011 16:00

It was fine thank you. I guess I was too busy to dwell on it. 12 seven year olds keep you busy. Like most things I think the anticipation is worse than the actual event. Thank you for asking.

yorklass - have only just seen your thread :( I'm glad it went OK. What a shame the funeral was arranged on your DS2's birthday :( It's funny how the year passes both quickly and slowly isn't it. Take care of yourself x

I only found our about 2 days before. (Funeral about 200 miles away) I felt really torn but knew I had to attend funeral. (especially as I was driving my mum)
Thank you chipping

It sounds like there's a whole back story there :( I hope that time brings you a little relief from the absolute devastation that a bereavement brings and that you have some lovely memories of your Dsis.

yorklass · 02/05/2011 16:33

It was unfortunate but as dsis had a long term illness which affected memory she never really kept up with birthday and bil wouldn't have known. Think we all fely some guilt as probably didn't keep in touch as much as we should.
