Begging food

Is this a normal development thing?

DD 2.7 keeps going to other children/parents/adults and asking for some of their food. I'll point out I am not starving her she asks even if she has just eaten. I always have lots of snacks with me when out and about because some days this is the only way she will eat and she can get them herself if she wants or she just ask me.

Is this just a case of wanting what other people have? It's getting quite embarrassing I'm sure they think I am starving her!

Totally normal! DS1 who is nearly 2.6 is forever walking around begging for food and especially juice. You would think he gets nothing at home. It is a case of wanting what someone else has. Case in point: We were on a farm trip with our local toddler group of Wednesday. He had a pack of Hula Hoops in his hands, he eyes up an identical pack of Hula Hoops another parent was holding, the parent offered it to him, he gave me the pack he had in his hands and took the offered one! I also bought him a kid's juice thing so he wouldn't go around begging for one. Well, he did. I wouldn't worry too much, I am sure the other parents understand...

Yes toddler does exactly the same. He likes to snack a lot but mainly on fruit but even when I am in town he thinks nothing of asking complete strangers for bits of their sausage roll or sandwich ! I always make sure I have plenty of grapes and crackers etc in case he is genuinely hungry, most of the time he's not, he just wants to taste what other people have got. I am assuming it's normal!

Thank goodness it's not just mine and it seems quite a normal phase. Hope it's one that doesn't last long.

The Hula Hoops thing is quite funny though. What goes through their little minds?
